Different people have different ideas of success. As far as I am concerned, success means that someone who has achieved his or hers goals which have positive effect on the world or just do good to him or herself. For example, if a scientist has a breakthrough in his field, we can say he is successful and if a student has made progress in his study, it is a success, as well.

Nothing is more important than diligence, if you want to be successful. Just as a famous saying goes” Genius is one percent inspiration, ninety-nine percent perspiration.” Apart from diligence, good opportunities also contribute much to one’s success. I subscribe to the view that there is no direct relationship between school achievements and career success. A:Hi ， Mr.Liang, as we all know ，Nowadays is a multicultural society, and more and more people think that money means success 。but I exactly didn’t agree with this point of view 。so I want to know how do you think about success and what is a really success in your opinion.B: En……This is a very difficult task. Success is relative; not everybody wants to manage a ten-billion-dollar conglomerate [kən'ɡlɔmərət]， or become President of the United States, or win the Nobel Peace Prize. It can be simple things such as getting an A on a difficult exam or bigger things like winning Olympic Games medal. If you've managed to live a relatively happy life, I think that's a success.

A: Oh, Yeah, I can’t agree with you more. Success is the achievement of a goal or aim. For instance, if your goal was to have a career that makes good money, if you have that you are successful.

B: Ah-ha, in my opinion, if you've managed to live a relatively happy life, I think that's a success. Our world is driven and focused on monetary value, but not all those that are rich are happy. I believe money is the by-product of living a successful life – not the measure. Success defined not by wealth of the person, but by value of the person.

A: En…that’s right. Success is what you believe it to be, because

everyone has different dreams and aspirations. Success means different things to different people. If you ask 100 people what their definition of success is, you may get 100 different answers. It is passion. It is what people die for. It is why some people explode out of the gates and create success easily, and others struggle all their life. These people are often operating on a whole different realm of success and action.
